A number of new developments have transformed Durban’s skyline over recent months. Along with what’s still in the pipeline for Durban on the development front, it’s no wonder that the city is attracting more businesses.
Major development projects valued at an estimated R35 billion are underway or being planned. They include hotels, apartments, office parks, retail developments and even a new cruise ship terminal. Here we offer an overview of some of the premium Durban office space developments that are attracting businesses to the city.
Park Square
Park Square officially opened in November 2018 and offers 18 000m2 of premium office space. The brand new building has a four-star green rating, making it ideal for eco-conscious businesses.
The park also incorporates retail space and an open, public space for relaxing and unplugging, designed to encourage a healthier work life.
The office park is conveniently located in the heart of Umhlanga Ridge’s thriving business hub. It offers secure on-site parking and convenient access to the surrounding residential communities.
2SIX2
2SIX2 is a mixed-use development offering office space, retail space and luxury apartments. This offers tenants a stress-free urban lifestyle with work, home and play combined under one roof.
Located on Florida Road in Windermere, 2SIX2 is also close to a number of trendy restaurants that are ideal for business lunches or after work drinks and relaxation.
Residents can also enjoy the use of the rooftop pool and on-site gym.
Dube City
Dube City is a 10-block office development and is part of the Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone, which is adjacent to King Shaka International Airport.
The mixed-use development will incorporate entertainment, hotels, conference centres, retail and, of course, office space. This, along with its convenient location next to an international airport, makes it a true one-stop international business hub.
Full-reticulated fibre-optic cabling will provide fast and reliable voice and data connectivity which is a must-have for all businesses. In the future, the whole development will also be directly linked to Mount Moreland.
Ntshongweni Urban Development
Ntshongweni is a future development, with phase one set to begin construction in 2019. The R20-billion project will cover 2000 hectares upon completion and could take as long as 20 years to complete in full.
This impressive development will include a 500,000m2 commercial office space and 85,000m2 retail space with a huge residential offering boasting over 20,000 homes as well. Over 1000 hectares have also been set aside for recreational space.
The development, which will essentially be a town, will be located roughly 30km from Durban central and about 60km from King Shaka International.
